BJP MLA Arvind Bellad called for a survey on Muslim clerics in Karnataka following the Hubballi stone pelting incident.
BJP MLA Arvind Bellad on Thursday called for 'mapping' of maulvis (clerics) in Karnataka following the arrest of maulvi Waseem Pathan in Hubballi stone pelting case.
Bellad said, "Most of the maulvis are from the Deoband movement/school of thought. They come from UP, Bihar. They don't understand and appreciate the local culture. They tell local Muslims what to do."
"I have requested the state home minister to do a survey of all these maulvis, send them back, so that people over here can live peacefully," he added.
