How You Can Instantly Help With The Los Angeles Wildfires
HuffPost
Watching the devastation might make you feel helpless, but there are things everyone can do to provide support right now.
As wildfires rage across neighborhoods in Los Angeles, we’re seeing constant footage of the frightening blazes and devastation. More than 180,000 people have been ordered to flee their homes, and even more are without power. Thousands of houses, businesses and other structures have been destroyed or damaged, and at least five people are dead.
If you live elsewhere in the world, it’s natural to feel helpless watching this horrifying situation unfold. But there are many ways to help those affected by the fires, no matter where you’re located.
Below, we’ve rounded up a list of organizations accepting donations now. (The list is by no means comprehensive, but for more options, Mutual Aid Los Angeles Network has also compiled a lengthy spreadsheet with resources and ways to help.)
California Fire Foundation
The California Fire Foundation works with local fire departments and community-based organizations to aid residents affected by wildfires and other disasters in the state. You can make a donation on the foundation’s website to offer direct support to victims of the Los Angeles blazes.
