When her husband of 30 years died, Fran Bak set off on a spiritual journey that would take her though Bali, India, and eventually end with her being the only tourist given permission to enter the kingdom of Bhutan since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic.
(CNN) — Fran Bak never read "Eat, Pray, Love."
But when her husband of 30 years passed away in 2018, Bak set off on a not-unlike-Elizabeth-Gilbert spiritual journey that would take her though Bali and India, and end with her being the only tourist given permission to enter the kingdom of Bhutan since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic.

A little-known civil rights office in the Department of Education that helps resolve complaints from students across the country about discrimination and accommodating disabilities has been gutted by the Trump administration and is now facing a ballooning backlog, a workforce that’s in flux and an unclear mandate.
