PC Chacko has resigned from the Congress in a way that validates the complaints that G-23 leaders have been making against the party leadership. Chacko's resignation ahead of Kerala Assembly polls mounts pressure on Rahul Gandhi, who is an MP from the state.
Former Union minister, veteran Congress leader and one of the spokespersons of the party, PC Chacko has just made life more difficult for the Gandhis. Leaving the Congress high command red faced, Chacko resigned from the party just ahead of the assembly election in Kerala, from where the party’s de facto boss Rahul Gandhi is a Lok Sabha MP. PC Chacko was considered close to both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. His stint as Congress's in-charge of Delhi PCC from 2014 to 2020 showed that the trust was mutual. During this period, the Congress failed to win a single seat in either the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi or the 2015 and 2020 assembly polls in the national capital.
