How Muslims in Delhi’s Noor Nagar saved a temple from demolition

Muslim residents approached the Delhi High Court to save the only Hindu temple in the vicinity from demolition.

Premvati, 53, was born and brought up in Noor Nagar, a Muslim-dominated neighbourhood of Delhi’s Jamia Nagar. She ran through a bundle of family photographs — many at least 15 years old — to find out those taken at her brother’s wedding.

“Back in the day, our religious, cultural and even family functions happened inside the Noor Nagar temple compound. There was a Dharamshala inside the compound where several ceremonies and rituals of my brother’s marriage were organised,” Premvati told India Today.
