
How Liz Cheney lost Republican support ahead of Stefanik vote this week

House Republicans are expected to bounce Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., from her post and install Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y. But the fight over Stefanik or Cheney frankly has very little to do with either of them.
This is a vote about former President Trump and his continued domination of the Republican Party. Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., chairs the Republican Study Committee, the largest bloc of conservatives in the House. Many expect Banks could be a candidate for the GOP leadership sooner rather than later. Cheney has called out Trump and fellow Republicans over purported fraud in the election and the Jan. 6 insurrection. But during an interview on "Fox News Sunday," Banks explained that very discussion is Cheney's transgression.More Related News
