How Fan made us Shah Rukh Khan's jabra fan. On Throwback Thursday
India Today
Shah Rukh Khan played the star and his greatest admirer in Maneesh Sharma’s Fan. On the film’s fifth anniversary, we see how it was the actor’s triumph, introspection of the grey shades of his own stardom and fandom.
What do stars owe their fans? Some might argue everything, others, nothing. After all, fans are the ones who raise them to the level where they live their best lives. On the other hand, hysterical fans also raise stars to the level of gods, making them an inseparable part of their lives, wanting more than a wave here or a smile there. It’s been five years since Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan released, a film that explored these possibilities. On Throwback Thursday, we revisit Fan, an incredible experiment that marked Shah Rukh’s return to form, while playing his greatest admirer himself. Oh Gawd. How I don’t miss this sitting in one place for hours. Totally unlike me. https://t.co/n9DJHX3J0c Directed by Maneesh Sharma, Shah Rukh Khan plays a superstar named Aryan Khanna in Fan. He also plays Gaurav Chandna, a 25-year-old cyber cafe owner from Delhi, who bears a resemblance to his object of devotion, Aryan. Gaurav wins competitions in his locality as the self-proclaimed ‘junior Aryan’. His room is filled with Aryan memorabilia, and he models his behaviour on the ‘mamooli’ man who conquered Bombay and Bollywood. Gaurav’s mission in life is to meet his idol and present him with the trophy he won by imitating him. While Shah Rukh has played cinematic doubles many a time, he gives a riveting performance in Fan. He swiftly glides in and out of the two characters the star and the fan.More Related News
