IPL 2021 was suspended indefinitely on May 4 after positive Covid-19 cases in the bio-bubbles of franchises in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It was a stark contrast to the last year's edition which went ahead seamlessly in the UAE.
With the Covid-19 situation deteriorating every single day, the Indian Premier League organisers misread the situation and continued with the schedule until things went south for most franchises. Just like IPL 2021, ISL 2020, IPL 2020, the India vs. England series in February-March 2021 and the Road Safety World Series in March 2021 were also conducted under bio-secure environments. How did the organizing teams for these tournaments manage the tournament effortlessly until their completion? If there were bio-bubbles successfully deployed across all these tournaments, then why did the IPL 2021 bio-bubble fail in maintaining the safety of players and eventually leading up to the tournament being postponed indefinitely?
