
House explosion that sent 4 people to hospital deemed 'criminal in nature'

A house explosion in Kitchener that sent two adults and two children to hospital Wednesday night, has been deemed "criminal in nature" by the Ontario Fire Marshall's Office (OFM).
Emergency crews responded to a townhome complex in the area of Elm Ridge Drive and Queen's Boulevard just before midnight Wednesday after receiving reports of a house explosion.
A man and a woman were transported by paramedic services to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries, and two children were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Waterloo regional police said the children have since been released from hospital.
On Thursday, the OFM declared the investigation into the explosion 'criminal in nature".
The OFM and Waterloo regional police's general investigations unit, as well as its drugs and firearms unit continue to investigate the incident.
