Homicide investigation underway in Stratford, Ont. following apparent shooting: Police

Stratford, Ont. police say a woman is dead and a man has been charged in a homicide investigation that was launched following a Tuesday morning incident in the city.
Police and paramedics were called around 5:00 a.m. to a home on Ontario Street in Stratford, police wrote in a news release. There, they found a 35-year-old woman, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.
A 41-year-old man was also found at the home before being arrested and charged, police said. The woman was taken to Stratford General Hospital, where she died from her injury.
The accused is scheduled to appear in bail court today. Police have not released the identities of the accused or the victim.
The incident is isolated and there is no risk to public safety, police said.
A police presence is expected to continue in the area, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling the Stratford Police Service or CrimeStoppers.
