A damaged gas meter has prompted the evacuation of some homes in the area of Vermont Avenue near Buckingham Street, according to police.
A damaged gas meter has prompted the evacuation of some homes in the area of Vermont Avenue near Buckingham Street, according to police.
London fire has also said “out of an abundance of caution,” schools in the area have been told to shelter in place.
Crews responded to the area shortly after 9 a.m. after a vehicle struck a home and damaged a gas line.
Vermont Avenue is closed from King Edward Street to Buckingham Street.
Enbridge has been called in and has shut the gas off. People are being asked to avoid the area.
