Home delivery of liquor will soon be stopped in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Thursday.
Home delivery of liquor, an arrangement that was initiated during the coronavirus lockdown, will be stopped soon in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Thursday.
Ajit Pawar said, "As Covid-19 cases have been reduced, we will stop home delivery of liquor. It was an arrangement during the lockdown."
In this regard, the Home Department has written to the Excise department to halt home delivery from now on.
During the lockdown, the Maharashtra government had issued a notification for home delivery. Only licensed liquor shops were allowed to deliver alcohol.
According to the notification, liquor, beer, mild liquor and wine having FL-II, FL/BR-II, FL/W-II licenses could be delivered to the delivery home address under the Bombay Liquor Rules 1953.
