Heavy downpours continue in parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa and Himachal Pradesh. The weather agency predicted the rain to cover Gujarat, and some parts of Delhi.
With the onset of the southwest monsoon, parts of the country are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said it is continuously monitoring the progress of the monsoon in the remaining parts of the country.
Heavy downpours continue in parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa and Himachal Pradesh. The weather agency predicted the rain to cover Gujarat, and some parts of Delhi.
Himachal
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur and Solan districts of Himachal Pradesh for July 8 and 9.
Also, IMD predicted heavy rainfall for Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Una districts in the state and has also issued a warning. “The rain activity will continue for the next 4-5 days,” SK Sharma, Senior Scientist, IMD, Shimla, said.
Karnataka
IMD has issued red alerts in some of the districts of the state. The road near the Mangaluru International Airport in Mangaluru has caved in. A red alert was issued for today and tomorrow in Dakshina Kannada district as heavy rains hit the coastal areas in Karnataka. Udupi has been terribly affected by water logging and sea erosion.
