Doha, Qatar: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Paediatric Emergency Centres (PEC) recorded 79,422 visits in May, according to data published yesterday.
The visits are recorded at the main PEC in Al Saad and others in Al Rayaan, Al Shamal, Al Daayen and Al Shamal areas.
The number of visits recorded in May shows an increase of more than 14, 500 compared to 64,551 recorded in April.
Speaking to The Peninsula recently, Chairman of Pediatrics and Director of PECs, HMC, Dr. Mohammed Al Amri said that viral illnesses and respiratory infections are common conditions seen among young patients.
“Viral infections are common among children and spread at school, during gatherings, while visiting public places like malls and restaurants,” he said adding that most children are present with conditions like fever, sore throat, vomiting and diarrhoea.
