Hong Kong: Hong Kong police arrested five executives of the pro-democracy Apple Daily newspaper on Thursday, and for the first time under a new national security law had a warrant to seize journalistic materials, sending chills through the city's media.
It was also the first time police have said media articles may have breached the security law that Beijing imposed last year. The raid by 500 officers was the latest blow to media tycoon Jimmy Lai, the tabloid's owner and a staunch Beijing critic, whose assets have been seized under the security law and who is serving prison sentences for taking part in illegal assemblies.More Related News
