Leadership positions saw the most growth as the job market expanded by 21 per cent in July 2022 compared to the same month the previous year.
The chaos in the job market that started in April 2020 now seems to be gradually settling in. The job market grew 21 per cent in July 2022 over the same month last year, according to the Naukri JobSpeak Index. Interestingly, it was not the workers with experience of up to seven years that saw the maximum growth, but those with experience of more than 16 years.
Workers with experience of more than 16 years saw a 32 per cent year-on-year growth while those with up to three years recorded a 20 per cent growth. Those with three to seven years of experience registered a growth of 18 per cent.
Fields like travel and hospitality were among the worst hit during the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. In July 2022, these fields saw the maximum job growth of 68 per cent, followed by the insurance, BFSI, oil and gas and power, and retail sectors.

With the rising demand for health insurance products since the pandemic and the recent monkeypox scare in the country, the insurance sector is witnessing a surge in hiring activity, noted the survey report.
"With the JobSpeak Index breaking all records, it validates that the employment market is on a steady course without any significant hotspots. The trend in growth is seen across most industries, cities and experience bands, which is great news for job-seekers," said Pawan Goyal, the Chief Business Officer at Naukri.com.
The expansion of the job market took place all around the country, more so in the metro cities. Kolkata (42 per cent), Mumbai (36 per cent), Delhi, and Chennai (25 per cent) saw the highest growth among metros.
