Himachal Pradesh: 21 students fall sick in Dharamshala college, officials suspect food poisoning

At least 21 girls residing in a PG college hostel at Dharamshala were rushed to the hospital after they complained of stomach upset and nausea.
At least 21 girl students residing in the Postgraduate College hostel at Dharamshala were hospitalised on Wednesday after they complained of vomiting and diarrhea, which doctors said could be due to food poisoning.
After the girl students fell ill, Kanika, the hostel warden, informed the medical authorities on the phone and they were rushed to the Regional Hospital in Dharamshala for treatment.
Senior medical officer Dr Ajay Dutta said that 21 girl students of the PG College hostel were brought to the hospital with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. The students were given medical aid and put on glucose saline to avoid dehydration and weakness.

Dr Ajay Dutta said that the district medical authorities have been informed about the development. He added that food samples were collected to confirm or rule out the possibility of food poisoning.
All the girl students were out of danger, Dr Ajay Dutta said.
Talking about the incident, the hostel warden said that the matter had come to the fore late Tuesday night and she took immediate cognizance and informed her senior officers and rushed to send the girl students to the hospital.
