Higher education experiencing unprecedented growth in Andhra Pradesh: Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan

Andhra Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Biswabhusan Harichandan said higher education was experiencing unprecedented growth in the state.
Andhra Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Biswabhusan Harichandan participated in the second convocation of Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Srikakulam, in virtual mode from Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.
Delivering the convocation address, Governor Harichandan has said that the higher education in Andhra Pradesh has been experiencing unprecedented growth, accompanied by diversification of the education sector, as the state government has been giving top priority to quality in higher education.
The governor said that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected all walks of society, including education and educational institutions quickly adapted to the situation with a shift from classroom-learning to online-learning mode by adoption of online platforms and digital technologies as an alternative system of teaching and learning process.
He further added that the principles of equitable and inclusive education, universal access of education, reforms in curricular and pedagogical structure, are at the heart of the National Educational Policy 2020 and the policy brings out a framework to guide the development of education in the country as it aims to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education to 50% by 2035.
He said it was heartening to note that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted 12B status to the Dr. BR Ambedkar University, and the university has been ranked at fourth among the cleanest higher educational institutions in the country.
The chancellor said he was to learn that new courses have been designed to train and provide skilled personnel to meet the requirements of large scale industrial projects coming up in the district, like the Bhavanapadu Port at Nowpada, International Airport, Bhogapuram and New Shipping Harbour.
He congratulated the students who received medals graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees during the convocation.
