
High winds expected in London-Middlesex, surrounding areas

Environment Canada is warning of high winds in London-Middlesex and surrounding areas today.
A special weather statement is in effect for London, Parkhill, Strathroy, Komoka, and the eastern and western parts of Middlesex County.
A cold front is expected to sweep through Southern Ontario, bringing strong southwest winds, at times gusting to 70 and 80 km per hour, beginning this afternoon and continuing into the evening.
Environment Canada says power outages may occur in some areas.
A gale warning is in effect along the whole Lake Erie shore.
Environment Canada's marine forecast is calling for winds of over 70 km per hour in the afternoon before diminishing overnight and into Thursday, with showers beginning in the morning changing to flurries this evening.
It said waves may reach over 3 m by this afternoon.
In a statement, the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority said there is a higher potential for flooding and erosion in the community of Port Stanley, Ont. and in other low-lying areas along the shoreline.
