High number of students turn up in Bantwal, Udupi South blocks

It was 5,565 regular students in Bantwal and 3,466 in Udupi South Education Block
As many as 5,565 and 3,466 regular Class X students turned up at the examination centres in Bantwal and Udupi South education blocks, respectively, taking these two blocks to the top among the education blocks in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in terms of regular students turning out for the exam on the first day on Monday.
Of the 5,565 students who wrote the first language paper in Bantwal block, 5,557 were freshers and eight students repeaters. A total of 33 students were absent.
“Apart from clarity in the order of the Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra about the examination norms, calls made to parents and religious leaders not to sacrifice the career of students have helped,” said an official from the office of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction.
A total of 5,263 students appeared and 44 were absent in Mangaluru South Block and 5,207 students were present and 43 were absent in the Mangaluru North Educational Block. As many as 4,767 students appeared and 31 were absent in Puttur Block; 3,938 were present and 34 absent in Belthangady Block, 1,881 were present and 23 were absent in Sullia Block, and 1,802 were present and nine absent in the Moodbidri Block.
Of the 3,466 students who appeared in the Udupi South Block, 3,461 were freshers, while the remaining five were repeaters. As many as 24 were absent.
In the Udupi North Block, 2,715 were present and 32 students were absent. As many as 2,592 appeared and 10 were absent in Karkala Block, 2,583 appeared and 38 were absent in Kundapur Block, and 2,202 students appeared and 13 were absent in the Byndoor Educational Block.
According to Udupi Deputy Commissioner M. Kurma Rao, none were absent in the 17 blocks in the district which has 58 examination centres. None took the examination in any COVID Care Centres.
