A high-altitude test launch for India's indigenously developed anti-tank missile guide 'Helina' was held successfully on Tuesday.
The indigenously developed anti-tank guided missile ‘Helina’ was successfully launched for the second time on Tuesday. The second launch was carried out at different ranges and attitudes and is a part of the ongoing user validation trials. As per the plan, the missile was launched from an advanced light helicopter and the missile engaged the simulated tank target accurately.
Helina is a third generation, fire and forget anti-tank guided missile that can engage targets both in direct hit mode and top attack mode. The system has an all-weather, day and night capability and can defeat battle tanks with conventional armour as well as with explosive reactive armour.

Teams from the Indian Airforce and Indian Army participated along with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) team in conducting the trial at a high altitude range.
The trials were witnessed by senior army commanders and senior scientists of the DRDO. Consistent performance of the complete system including Infrared Imaging (IIR) seeker has been established, which will enable the induction of Helina into the armed forces.
