The DRI seized heroin worth Rs 113 crores from three African nationals at the Kolkata International Airport.
Heroin worth Rs 113 crores was seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) from three passengers at the Kolkata airport.
The total quantity seized was 16.14 kg and the market value of the seized contraband was approximately Rs 113 crores.
Acting on specific inputs, the DRI officials intercepted two Kenyan passengers, a male and a female and one Malawian female passenger at the Kolkata international airport on March 30 evening.
During the examination of their four trolley bags, fourteen packets filled with a brown powdery substance were found concealed in false cavities inside the baggage. The field NDPS testing kit of FSL confirmed the presence of Heroin.Two of these passengers came on a medical visa while one came on a business visa. The contraband has been seized and further investigation is in progress.
