In a quick response to the recent surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp announced that it will halt all its operations across the country in a staggered manner. The shutdown will be enforced across all of Hero's plants and their Global Parts Center between April 22 and May 1, based on the pandemic situation where the plant is located. Each factory will be shutdown for a period of four days at a time, in attempt to flatten the curve of the pandemic. Based on the release from the company, the shutdown will not impact Hero’s ability to meet demand. Thus far, local shutdowns have put a wrench in the production in many states, although Hero say that they expect to compensate for the production loss in this time over the coming quarter. The statement from the company also says that management will use this time, to conduct maintenance work on their manufacturing plants to ensure smooth operations going ahead. Earlier in the year, Hero had also announced that it will cover vaccination costs for its entire workforce, extending the same benefit to all companies under the group. In line with government’s policy to begin vaccination for all people above the age of 18 after May 1st, Hero will be able to begin work towards a 100% vaccinated work force.More Related News
