Already, people in Ottawa are sharing their memories of the former prime minister.
"We traveled around on the tiniest planes you could ever see, across Canada, visiting every small town, and Brian kept us hopping busy, but he kept us laughing," former executive assistant to Brian Mulroney, Bonnie Brownlee, told CTV Morning Live on Monday. "He had a great friendships with most of the world leaders from Margaret Thatcher, to Ronnie Reagan and George Bush. The thoughts that we've had from people and the words from around the global community have been overwhelming over the last."
Bob Taylor, who is visiting Ottawa from the U.K. said he remembers learning about Mulroney.
"You get to know him through the Commonwealth heads of government meetings and things like that, and when he's visited the U.K. as well," said Taylor.
