This weekend, Londoners will be marking Canada's 156th birthday with events and happenings across the city from neighbourhood parties to fireworks displays.
There are plenty of free things to do in the Forest City over the long weekend from enjoying a splash in a public pool, taking in some live entertainment to browsing local artisan goods at a night market.
Be prepared to bring your umbrella. Environment Canada is calling for a chance of showers for the weekend across the region.
Here are five free things to do across the city this Canada Day.
Downtown London is set to transform into a street party as Canada Day London celebrations and night market come to life. A lineup of multicultural performers will take to the street from a steel orchestra to mariachi band to Indian street garba.
Food trucks, an artisan market and a kids' zone will be all part of the fun — with face painting, bouncy inflatables and drumming. A full schedule is available on London Heritage Council's website.
Festivities run: Night Market | Friday, June 30 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Canada Day London | Saturday, July 1 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. Dundas Place and Talbot Street, London
From beanbag baseball to slime workshops, the City of London is opening up some community centres and pools for free recreation activities for people of all ages on Canada Day.
Swimming, ice skating, badminton, pickleball, crafts and even a slime workshop are being offered throughout the city. A full list of programs are available on the City of London website.
London's outdoor heritage museum, Fanshawe Pioneer Village, is commemorating Canada's birthday by inviting Londoners to take a step back in time.
Enjoy traditional fair games, dances from days gone by, crafts and live music performances — all for free admission at 1424 Clarke Road.
Rain or shine, Museum London's family-friendly Canada Day festivities will feature a draw-a-thon, temporary tattoo studio, beaded strawberry keychain making.
The museum is opening its doors to Londoners for short films, nature craft workshops and more. Art exhibitions are open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 45-minute guided tours at noon and 2 p.m. at 421 Ridout St. N.
The museum is asking staff and volunteers to wear orange to honour the experiences of Indigenous peoples and celebrate resilience.
