He congratulated the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on organising the 'Rajiv: Ek Sankalp' event to honour Rajiv Gandhi's vision and his contribution to India.
In a letter, Rahul stated, “The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has played a pivotal role in shaping the progressive and inclusive vision of Congress.”
"I would also like to commend the IYC on the launch of IYC Rajiv Kawach, SOSIYC Blood Connect and the nationwide Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign. IYC’s Rajiv Kawach particularly deserves praise," the letter further read.
“ I am proud to say that our IYC workers have time and again helped people without discrimination during times of crisis,” Gandhi stated.
On the 78th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in an emotional tweet to his father, said he will try to fulfill his father’s dream for the nation. “Papa, you are with me every moment, in my heart. I will always try that I can fulfill the dream you dreamed for the country,” he tweeted.
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated during a suicide bombing in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991. At least 14 others, in addition to Rajiv Gandhi, were killed.
