Heavy rainfall is likely in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and the northeastern states over the next four days. Parts of North Bengal are also likely to receive heavy showers.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is likely in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and the northeastern states over the next four days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The rainfall is expected owing to the cyclonic circulation over southern Bangladesh and the adjoining northern Bay of Bengal.
“Due to a cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and the adjoining north Bay of Bengal and strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to northeast India, widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy downpour is very likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and the northeast during the next few days,” the IMD said.
In addition to this, heavy to very heavy rainfall in the North Bengal districts of Alipurduar and Cooch Behar and heavy downpours in Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri are expected till Sunday morning.
The conditions are favourable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon in the region by Friday.
