Heavy rain expected Wednesday evening for Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County

Heavy rain is expected in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for much of southern Ontario.
The statement noted thunderstorms are likely with "very high rainfall rates possible."
"At this point, there is uncertainty regarding which areas will get the heaviest rain. Rainfall warnings may be issued later today as necessary," the statement said.
The forecast is calling for up to 40 mm of rain Wednesday evening.
Showers are expected to end Thursday afternoon with up to 10 mm of rain possible and wind gusts of up to 50 km/h at times.
The high on Thursday is expected to be 24 C with a Humidex of 29. The clouds will clear out Thursday evening and winds will become light.
Friday is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 26 C.
