Heavy rain causes Middlesex County to declare state of emergency

Heavy rain that flooded roads has forced Middlesex County to declare a state of emergency Wednesday night, and some roads in London have been closed because of flooding.
A statement issued by the County said upwards of 100 mm of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours.
"Many roads in the County are underwater and are in danger of washouts," the statement said. And one municipality in the county, Southwest Middlesex, has closed all of its roads.
An additional 20-40 mm of rain is expected in the next 12 hours.

The County is urging residents not to drive through water or in areas where the road is not visible. It warns washouts are possible and driving through water is extremely dangerous.
"We are urging all residents of the County to stay at home until conditions improve," said Warden Cathy Burghard-Jesson.
