The IMD has predicted heat wave spells over Northwest, Central and West India during the next four to five days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted warmer days ahead with no respite from the already ongoing heat waves in several parts of India.
They have predicted heat wave to severe heat wave conditions over West Rajasthan during March 28-30 and isolated heat wave conditions on March 31 and April 1, 2022.
The IMD also issued alerts for heat wave conditions in Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh (March 28-29), South Haryana (March 29-30), Saurashtra-Kutch, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh (March 28 April 1), Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada (March 29-31), south Uttar Pradesh (March 30-31) and over Jharkhand and interior Odisha. (March 30 April 1)
No significant change in maximum temperatures has been predicted over parts of the rest of the country during the next five days except a 2-3 degrees Celsius gradual rise in maximum temperature over Maharashtra. Maximum temperatures over most parts of Gujarat and East India are expected to increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius after two-three days.
Heat waves could lead to moderate health concerns for vulnerable people such as infants, elderly and people with chronic diseases. Meanwhile, there is an increased likelihood of heat illness symptoms in people who are either exposed to the sun for a prolonged period or doing heavy work.
