Hearing cross-voting in mayoral polls, Bombay HC coaches neutrality to minister in appellate role

Bombay High Court was hearing a petition filed Hasmukh Gehlot, group leader of the BJP in Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.
The Bombay High Court had a word of coaching to ministers presiding an appellate authority to decide matters of law. The Bombay High Court’s advice came on hearing a plea in connection with cross-voting during mayoral polls in Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) in 2020.
The high court said when a minister presided over an appellate authority, then he should keep his political affiliation aside.
