The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has issued an advisory after someone with COVID-19 attended an east London bar on the weekend.
The health unit says a patron who was infectious with the virus was at Paranyde Bar & Grill, 1100 Commissioners Road East, on Friday and Saturday nights. The MLHU was notified of the positive test result late Tuesday.
The health unit says they are unable to complete contact tracing because there was no record of who would have potentially come in contact with the positive case. The patron attended the bar on Friday and Saturday between the hours of 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
"There is a risk that anyone who had close contact with this individual may have been exposed to COVID-19. Because we don't have a list of this person's possible close contacts, it will be very important for anyone who starts to develop any COVID symptoms to get tested right away," said Dr. Alex Summers, associate medical officer of health with the MLHU in a statement.
"Whether they attended Paranyde Bar & Grill or not, we advise anyone who starts to show symptoms to book a COVID-19 test right away."
Anyone who may have been exposed is being asked to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and if they present, to get tested for the virus.
The situation has also prompted the health unit to remind businesses about the importance of collecting customer contact information for contact tracing purposes.
