Haryana: Parents of school students protest new board exam in April

Parents of school students are protesting against the newly introduced board exams for Class 5 and Class 8.
The Haryana government's decision to hold board exams for Classes 5 and 8 in April 2022 was met with protests as parents of said school students protested against the move on Sunday.
Parents of students from Classes 5 and 8 studying at 12 schools governed by the CBSE, CISCE, and IB Boards across Gurugram held a protest at Leisure Valley in Gurugram.
It was argued by parents that it will be difficult for children already struggling to overcome learning gaps to sit for exams after 650 days of school closures.
They argued further that a new board exam would lead to additional pressure on the students.
"Children are already preparing for their term 2 final exams while dealing with Covid-19 restrictions. Many have not had digital access to classrooms, and have been struggling with hybrid teaching," said the parents.
They went on to remark, "Trying to prepare for a new board exam will be impossible for them."
The protesting parents informed further, "The proposed BSEH (Board of Secondary Education, Haryana) syllabus differs from syllabus being taught in many schools."
