As many as 30 women employees at a factory in Haryana’s Sonipat were taken ill after inhaling fumes arising out of melting of copper scrap.
As many as 30 women employees at a factory in Haryana’s Sonipat were taken ill after inhaling fumes arising out of melting of copper scrap.
The incident occurred at the Hyundai Metal Pvt Ltd factory located on Badshahi Road near Panchi Gujran village of Sonipat on Saturday.
Earlier today, metal was being melted in the furnace. The process involves the use of a high amount of chemicals. During the melting of scrap, the health of several workers deteriorated when toxic gas started leaking from the furnace.
Thirty female employees fainted due to inhalation of the toxic fumes. All the female workers were doing sorting work near the scrap melting furnace.

All the workers who fell ill have been admitted to a nearby private hospital and CHC Ganaur and are under observation. The condition of two women is critical, and they were referred to Khanpur Medical College.
Police and health department officials reached the hospital to enquire about the women’s condition.
