
Harassed by police officer, BBA student kills self in Indore

After a 21-year-old student allegedly ended his life in Indore, his family accused a Sub-Inspector, Vikash Sharma, of abetment to suicide.
A 21-year-old BBA student ended his life by hanging himself due to alleged harassment by a sub-inspector in Indore under Aerodrom police station limits.The victim, identified as Akash Badiya, a resident of Vijayshree Nagar in Indore, was a first year student at Maharana Ranjit Singh College.The family found the body of the youth hanging at their home on Thursday morning.
According to his family, Akash accused two police officers posted at the Chandan Nagar Police station of threatening and harassing him. They claimed that the victim had left a note on his cell phone and blamed sub-inspector Vikash Sharma posted at Tejaji police station for his death. The family also said that they have a video in which the police officer can be seen assaulting Akash.
Vikash Badiya, Akash's elder brother, told India Today, "Sub-Inspector Vikash Sharma saw Akash with his female companion on February 10 outside their home and dragged them to Chandan Nagar police station. Sharma threatened and assaulted my brother."
His brother said that the police officer repeatedly intimidated the victim that he would frame false charges against him under the provisions of the NDPS Act. According to the family members, the officer threatened Akash by saying that he would get his mother suspended, who is also posted in the police department.
Meanwhile, the Sub-Inspector claimed that he is the uncle of the girl and objected to their meeting.
Investigating officer, LM Meena, said that Akash ended his life by hanging himself and police are trying to ascertain the motive behind his extreme step. Police said no suicide note has been recovered and the mobile phone of the victim has been confiscated for a probe.
The body of the victim has been sent for the post-mortem examination and they have launched an investigation to solve the case. Further probe is underway.
