As a part of the nation’s Har Ghar Tiranga drive, 4.5 crore national flags will be unfurled in Uttar Pradesh from August 13 to 15.
To prepare the flags, self-help groups, NGOs, MSMEs, and village industries, along with private sewing centres have been roped in. A target of making 1,50,16,077 tricolours has been given to 76,547 self-help groups of the state, a target of making 31,82,134 flags to 10,224 NGOs and 81,66,735 tricolours has been given to 10,112 private sewing centres of the state.
Barabanki's self-help groups, Shri Gandhi Bhawan, and the NGOs of the Meerut district will cooperate in making a record number of flags. Apart from this, many private sewing centers in the state have also been given the responsibility for this. A total target has been set to prepare 2.64 crore flags by about 97 thousand local manufacturing centres in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Not only this, the MSME department of the state is getting two crore flags ready. For this, tender is also being floated on the GeM portal. To make the flag easily available to all the people on behalf of the government, development buildings of ration shops, gram panchayat buildings, public service centres, tehsil/block headquarters, primary schools, Anganwadi centers, and petrol pumps/ LPG centers, districts/ Municipal Corporation/ Municipality, Urban Local Body be used.
India Today, reached at Shri Gandhi Ashram in Barabanki, more than 1.5 lakh flags have been prepared. Began operating in 1980, this unit has been manufacturing flags for a long time, but during the 75th independence celebration, the manufacturing here has increased by 10 times.
Shri Gandhi Ashram is the only ashram in the state, where thick khadi is produced. It has a special identity in the state for dyeing and printing. There is no answer to the quality made here. The flags made here are famous all over the country. For the last several years, this work had reduced somewhat. But, the 'Amrit Mahotsav' of independence has given a new life to this centre.
