Hamilton, Burlington, Niagara and surrounding areas could see freezing rain and strong winds on Saturday, according to Environment Canada.
The federal weather agency says the active weather pattern of late continues this weekend, with the arrival of another storm system.
"Precipitation will likely begin as a period of freezing rain or a brief period of snow followed by a rapid transition to a period of freezing rain," Environment Canada said in a special weather statement.
"The freezing rain may last for a few hours before changing over to showers or rain Saturday afternoon. A few millimetres of ice accretion are possible, especially over the higher terrain of the Dundalk Highlands."
In addition to the potential for freezing rain, the agency says strong winds gusting up to 70 or 80 kilometres per hour are also expected Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening.
"The combination of strong winds and any ice build up may lead to local power outages," Environment Canada said.
Saturday's forecast calls for a high of 5 C during the day and a high of 0 C during the night.
