The House minority leader quickly corrected himself, saying he'd "fight hard" for Americans' voting rights.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) made a gassy gaffe while addressing the newly sworn-in 119th Congress on Friday.
At one point, Jeffries promised his colleagues that the Democratic Party would “never abandon the long walk towards freedom” and would “fight hard” during the next session of Congress.
“We will fight hard to defend the freedom of opportunity that makes the American dream possible,” he said, before making an unfortunate blooper.
“We will fart hard — fight hard for the freedom to vote,” he said, quickly correcting himself. “And to fight for a government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Take a listen for yourself.
