Varanasi Civil Judge Ravi Diwakar, who had ordered the survey at the Gyanvapi mosque complex, said on Tuesday that he has received a threat letter.
Varanasi Civil Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar said on Tuesday that he received a threat letter from a man named Kashif Ahmed Siddiqui of Islamic Aghaz Movement. Ravi Diwakar is the judge who had ordered a survey at the disputed Gyanvapi- Kashi Vishwanath complex.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had transferred the Gyanvapi case from the civil court to that of the district judge. The next hearing will be on July 4.
As per Justice Diwakar, the threat letter insinuated that in present-day ‘divided India’, even the judiciary has taken on a saffron hue.
Justice Diwakar has informed home secretary in the Uttar Pradesh government about the threat letter. He has demanded action in the matter.
The Varanasi Police Commissioner told India Today that Ravi Diwakar has already been provided security. Nine policemen have been deployed to protect the judge and his family.
All the petitioners and advocates associated with the Gyanvapi case have been given proper protection, as per the police.
