Gyanvapi Masjid case: Hindu side lawyer gets ‘sar tan se juda’ threat

The lawyers arguing for the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi mosque-Shringar Gauri case alleged that he has been getting death threats since March.
Amid the ongoing Gyanvapi mosque-Shringar Gauri case, the lawyer arguing for the Hindu side alleged that he has received several death threats. Speaking to India Today, Sohan Lal Arya said he has been receiving ‘sar tan se juda’ threats.
Meanwhile, one of the petitioners in the case is also facing threats. Rekha Pathak, one of the plaintiffs in the Gyanvapi case, said that some masked men had been coming to her locality and doing reconnaissance of the area.
The court is hearing the application, challenging the maintainability of the plea seeking the right to worship at Maha Shringar Gauri’s outer wall of the complex.

Rekha Pathak, one of the five women petitioners, said that her house in Varanasi has been under reconnaissance for several days. Neighbours informed Rekha that some suspicious people had been asking about the woman’s address. The neighbours warned her to be careful.
Sita Sahu, another woman petitioner in the case, said that her relatives also warned her to be careful. She added that she wasn’t scared and would keep moving forward for Maa Shringar Gauri.
Sohanlal Arya said that he has been receiving threats through WhatsApp calls since March. Arya alleged that the caller threatened him with ‘sar tan se juda’ and referred to Kanhaiya Lal’s murder in Rajasthan. Kanhaiya Lal, who worked as a tailor in Rajasthan's Udaipur, was murdered in broad daylight by two men in June. The accused later recorded a video admitting to killing Kanhaiya Lal over a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma.
