Gujarat to experience severe heat wave, IMD issues yellow alert

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Gujarat as the state witnessed a rise in temperature and heat wave.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Gujarat as the heat wave has intensified in the state.
With the start of the summer season in Gujarat, all the records have been broken in the scorching heat. Due to the heat wave, there has been a record-breaking increase in summer temperature. In Gujarat, the temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius mark in 10 cities.
For the first time in 20 years, a record-breaking 41.5 degrees Celsius temperature was recorded by March 15 in Ahmedabad. In Surendranagar, the maximum temperature recorded was 41.7 degrees Celsius.

“There may be an increase in summer temperatures in Gujarat for the next few days,” said Manorama Mohanty, director of the Meteorological Department, Gujarat.
Ahmedabad Meteorological Department director Manorama Mohanty said, “A heat wave warning has been issued in Gujarat. Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over Saurashtra and Kutch region for the next 24 hours and in North Gujarat for the next 48 hours. After 2 days, the heat wave will subside but the temperature will remain high”.
