Gujarat polls: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s 4th poll promise aimed at women
India Today
Arvind Kejriwal is slated to visit Ahmebad on Wednesday, during which he will announce AAP's fourth poll promise geared towards women empowerment.
Making an all-out bid to woo the people of Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is heading to the state once again. India Today/AajTak Group has exclusively learnt that Kejriwal will visit Ahmedabad on Wednesday (August 10) and announce the AAP’s fourth poll promise ahead of assembly elections.
According to highly placed sources in the party, Kejriwal’s fourth poll promise is geared towards women and their empowerment. As part of the AAP’s women’s program, different guarantees for the women of Gujarat will be announced, said a party official.
With months to go to the Gujarat assembly polls, the AAP is intensifying its campaign in the BJP-ruled state. Earlier, Kejriwal had declared three poll promises: 300 units of free electricity, jobs to all unemployed youths, and betterment and facilities for tribal people.
However, the party is receiving criticism and scorn from the BJP for promising freebies to better its electoral prospects. The saffron party has charged that Kejriwal is promoting “rewadi culture”, but asserted that the people of Gujarat will not accept it.
For long a traditional fight between the BJP and Congress, the Gujarat assembly election this time is being seen as a three-cornered fight. With AAP intensifying its campaign, the BJP and Congress are devising their own strategy to counter the challenge by Kejriwal’s party.
