
Gujarat Police arrests doctor for derogatory remarks on hospital

A doctor, dissatisfied with the hospital's top management, made disparaging remarks on social media. Gujarat Police arrested him on Thursday.
Gujarat Police's cyber cell on Thursday arrested the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of UN Mehta Hospital for defaming the hospital and its director.
Kaushik Barot, 46, has been named as the accused doctor. He intended to smear the hospital's reputation as well as that of its director, Dr RK Patel.
To defame the hospital, the accused doctor, Barot, used a special application and made calls in the voice of a woman. He also created a fake Facebook account in the name of a doctor to post derogatory remarks about the hospital and its director.
Speaking to India Today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Ahmedabad cyber crime, Amit Vasava, said, "We have arrested doctor Kaushik Barot under Sections 120b and 500 of the Indian Penal Code [IPC] and other sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
"The accused doctor has been practicing for the last 18 years at the most reputed cardiac hospital in Gujarat. Prima facia, it seems that the accused doctor was unhappy with the top management in the hospital. For the past year, he has been doing this. The IT head of UN Mehta hospital is the complainant in the case. We are further investigating the case. "

According to police, the accused doctor was always willing to go above and beyond to help others.
