Advocates for Directors of the Amos company, whose name has become embroiled in the Gujarat hooch tragedy, withdrew the bail petition filed at Gujarat High Court as the court refused to accept the same and directed them to approach Sessions Court first.
According to police officials investigating the matter, a chemical used to make alcohol was stolen by an accused worker from Amos Company in Ahmedabad.
In three to four months, around 600 litres of methyl alcohol was stolen from the company by the accused and supplied to bootleggers. Police have not made directors accused in the matter but issued summons for statements. Director Sameer Patel and others did not appear before SIT and therefore, a lookout notice has been issued against Sameer Patel, as he might leave the country.
Sameer Patel and other directors, officers of Amos Company had approached Gujarat High court for bail.
During the hearing, Gujarat High Court made a statement saying if you have a licensed gun and give the gun to the servant, can you escape the responsibility for the wrongdoing done by the servant with the gun?
After the applicants file a bail application in Sessions Court Botad, the court will have to take a decision in 7 days. The accused also argued in court that a media trial is happening in the matter and therefore they will not get a fair chance for proper justice. However, the court rejected all such arguments.
The court said they should first approach Sessions court, after which all applications were withdrawn.
