India Today
Gujarat Titans' batter Rahul Tewatia won the Player of the Match award against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, April 30.
Gujarat Titans’ (GT) batter Rahul Tewatia has had an impressive campaign thus far in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After having a couple of decent seasons for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the veteran all-rounder moved to the Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, and hasn’t flattered to deceive by any means. In 8 innings in IPL 2022, Tewatia has scored 179 runs at an average of 44.75 and a strike rate of 161.26.
To start with, he smashed Odean Smith for 2 sixes in a row and helped the Titans defeat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) earlier in the tournament. Thereafter, he stitched together a valuable partnership with Rashid Khan and guided the Titans to a victory over Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). On Saturday, April 30, Tewatia played another impressive knock against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
After being asked to chase down 171, the Titans found themselves in a spot of bother with their score at 95/4 in 12.5 overs. From there on, Tewatia played an unbeaten 25-ball knock of 43, laced with 5 fours and 2 sixes, and helped the Titans secure a 6-wicket victory. He also won the Player of the Match award for his superlative knock under pressure.
After the game, Tewatia was seen having a chat with RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who returned to form with his first IPL fifty in 14 matches. Kohli got to his fifty off 45 balls, after which Mohammed Shami rattled his woodwork. The official Twitter handle of the Bangalore-based franchise, in the meantime, uploaded a picture where Kohli can be seen sharing some valuable tips with Tewatia after GT’s win over RCB.
