IPL 2022, GT vs RCB: Rahul Tewatia's unbeaten 43 off 25 balls gave Gujarat Titans their 8th win of the season. After the victory, Tewatia said he does not stay all that cool in tight chases.
Rahul Tewatia is making it a habit of acing tight chases. On Saturday, the aggressive left-handed batter did it for Gujarat Titans for the second time in four nights.
Chasing 171 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, GT were in a spot of bother at 95 for 4, but Tewatia hammered an unbeaten 43 off 24 balls and added 79 in an unbroken 5th wicket stand to script a fine victory.
On Tuesday, GT were in a trickier spot against Sunrisers Hyderabad but Tewatia had smashed an unbeaten 40 in a stunning 59-run partnership with Rashid Khan to steer his team to victory.
But four nights back, Umran Malik was named man-of-the-match despite ending up on the losing side. But you can understand why. Umran had ripped through the GT batting line-up with his maiden 5-wicket haul and that bowling performance demanded a special applause.
On Saturday, it was all about Rahul Tewatia, who is fast turning into one of the most accomplished finishers in the IPL. He was adjudged man-of-the-match for a spectacular batting effort when he overshadowed the more experienced David Miller. That is never easy.
Rahul Tewatia's skipper, Hardik Pandya, said he had to be super cool to do this so often, but Tewatia himself admitted that was not really the case.
"I can't say that I stay cool during chases, but a lot of things will be going on, as to how to take it forward, which bowler to target and which areas to hit. I then try and follow the plans," Tewatia told Star Sports.
