Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman to be awarded Vir Chakra today

Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman will be awarded the Vir Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind for his feat against Pakistan in February 2019.

Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman will be awarded the Vir Chakra on Monday, November 22, by President Ram Nath Kovind at an investiture ceremony for shooting down a Pakistani F-16 fighter aircraft in an aerial dogfight over Balakat in February 2019.

Abhinandan is credited to have been the only Mig-21 pilot ever to have shot down an F-16.
