On the 86th edition of Mann ki Baat, PM Modi praised Tanzanian siblings Kili and Neema Paul and thanked them for paying tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and singing the national anthem in their lip-syncing videos.
In the 86th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Tanzanian siblings, Kili Paul and his sister Neema, who have gained immense popularity on social media for their on-point lip-sync videos and groovy choreography of Indian songs.
"Kili and Neema from Tanzania have shown passion for Indian music. They paid tribute to Lata didi, sang our national anthem. I am grateful to them. Just like them, how about our kids doing the same...Like Kannada students lip syncing in Jammu and K (language)....", PM Modi said on Sunday while addressing the nation.
Noting that Mother Language Day was observed a few days ago, PM Modi stressed on the importance of learning and preserving Indian languages. “Those who are learned people, can give a lot of academic input about how the word mother tongue originated,” he said. "Just as our mother shapes our lives, so our mother tongue also shapes our lives," he added.
Urging kids from different states to make lip-syncing videos of popular regional songs, the prime minister said, "Just like the sibling duo of Kili and Neema, I urge everyone, especially kids from different states to make lip-syncing videos of popular songs (from a state different than theirs). We will redefine 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and popularise Indian languages."
In 2019, Hindi was ranked among the spoken languages of the world.
“Even after 75 years of independence, some people are living in such mental conflict due to which they have hesitations about their language, their dress, their food and drink, whereas, nowhere else in the world is it like this,” PM Modi added.
PM Modi also highlighted how India has been able to successfully bring back over 200 idols since 2014 with the help of countries like the US, Canada and Britain.
