The territorial administration has decided to provide free laptops to Class 12 students studying in government schools in the Union Territory, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said here on Monday.
Delivering his address after hoisting the national tricolour to mark UT’s liberation from French rule, the Chief Minister said the decision to provide laptops was taken following the feedback about the difficulties faced by poor students to attend online class during the pandemic time.
The government has decided to renew noon meal programme when classes resume for lower classes on November 8, the Chief Minister also announced. The government has decided to takeover the school managed by the now defunct Lingareddipalayam Sugar Mills. The school would be taken over by the Education Department, he said.
