Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka highlights Congress government's ₹66,000 crore loan repayment, development projects, and farmer welfare initiatives.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Congress government paid ₹66,000 crore this year towards repayment of loans and interest borrowed by the previous BRS government, which was more than 10 times the loan repayment figures of 2014 when Telangana was formed.
Mr. Vikramarka, who is also the Finance Minister, said that when Telangana State was formed, the government was paying ₹6,400 crore towards loan repayment per year and now the loan repayment amount is ₹66,000 crore per year. This was due to the indiscriminate loans raised by the BRS government that pushed the State into deep economic crisis.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating various development programmes in Wanaparthy and Nagar Kurnool districts on Thursday, later addressing Congress party workers’ meeting organised at Wanaparthy. He asked the party cadre to go to the farmers and dispel the propaganda of the BRS on Rythu Bharosa and Farm Loan waiver. The Congress government increased Rythu Bharosa to ₹12,000 and it would be credited into the farmers’ accounts from January 26.
Similarly, the KCR government had taken almost 10 years to implement loan waiver of ₹1 lakh in four instalments to farmers and it was barely sufficient to pay the interest amount. The Congress government fulfilled its loan waiver promise of ₹2 lakh within three months.
Mr. Vikramarka announced that Palamuru- Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation scheme would be completed in the next three years. Projects like Koyalsagar, Bhima, Kalwakurthy, and Nettempadu over Krishna river were completed by Congress governments alone and it was the Congress government that issued the GO for the Palamuru- Ranga Reddy LI scheme, Mr Bhatti said. He said that Elimineti Madhava Reddy, Srisailam tunnel and Dindi projects would be completed on a priority basis.
